MY OPINION ON THE LIKELIHOOD OF
RE-OCCURRENCE

In my opinion, the probability of an earthquake of this magnitude to occur again in the same location is likely. It definitely is not impossible, due to the geographical location Chile is situated between, but not highly likely for it to be in the exact same place. Since the fault line runs all along the edge of western Chile, the chances of other earthquake to occur in very close and surrounding area is certain.
The fault lines which, unfortunately run all the way down western Chile, will always be prone to earthquakes with the 2 plates (Nazca and South American) constantly moving, estimated maximum of 9 cm per year. With the epicentres usually out at sea but the repercussions of it ripples throughout the country, the cities of Chile
will always endure the hardship of Mother Nature.
